The foundation of the group was laid by Kishor Thakker by establishing Gurukrupa Enterprises in 1975 as a niche real estate consulting and development firm headquartered at Prabhadevi, Mumbai. In 1992, his equally dynamic son Mr. Vinay Thakker founded Veekay Associates to add a new dimension to the its real estate consulting business. He began a specialized division to cater to the large investor groups by giving them the required know how, knowledge and expertise for investing in real estate sector mainly in the pre-launch stage of projects and providing variable investment tools such as pre-leased properties.He specialised in arranging funds and bulk bookings for developers at the launch stage. With the exponential growth of the Veekay Associates the company diversified and started self-financing of projects and as investors with many reputed developers across the city.
